FOLSS  “Friends of Little Sutton School”

FOLSS do an amazing job raising much needed finds for our school.  With the funds that they raise we are able to purchase things like iPads, PE equipment and musical instruments.

A very active, committed body of parents work tirelessly to support the school in many ways, ranging from fund-raising events to carrying out practical activities.

A vast range of equipment has been bought for the children ranging from fiction books to musical instruments to computer software/hardware. A football kit has also been generously donated to the team.

All parents and friends of the school are welcome to make any contribution they wish as the children inevitably benefit from the resources we are able to provide for them. Each year we receive a substantial amount of money towards our curricular needs.

Friends of Little Sutton are represented on the communications committee of the governing body.

School Funding

We are very proud of our Little Sutton School family and strive to provide the best possible care and education for our children. It is important to us that we equip them to achieve success at secondary school and in their later life.

We continue to be one of the top performing schools in Birmingham, however you may be shocked to know we receive the lowest amount of funding out of all primary schools in Birmingham.

Your help in raising funds to maintain and further improve our high standard of education would be really appreciated. Little Sutton, along with many other schools, has greatly suffered from not being able to hold fundraising events over the last 18 months. If you can commit to a monthly standing order towards our School Opportunities Fund, it would help to provide those additional resources that really make a difference.

Our system for donating money is through FOLSS, our PTA, which is a registered charity and benefits from Gift Aid reimbursement for UK tax payers. For every £4 raised, we will receive an additional £1 from the Government. Please consider giving £2, £5 or £10 a month – although we will gratefully accept any amount, or one-off donation. Just £2 is less than a take away coffee, but if all parents were able to contribute this amount, our school would benefit greatly.

In the past FoLSS have raised funds for

  • iPads for the children
  • New play equipment on the Key Stage 1 playground
  • Materials for art classes

This year we would like to raise funds for:

  • Further play equipment on the playgrounds
  • A new music room
  • Outdoor toilet facilities for the children (this will also enable us to rent out our field and raise further funds)
  • Reading books for each classroom

Thank you to families who have already set up a monthly contribution.

Please see the School Office for details on how to set up a regular donation of £5 per month.

Thank you for your support; any donation you are able to make will help to make a tremendous difference to our school and your child.
